I have to start this post by apologizing for the length of time between posts. Life gets in the way sometimes, but that’s no excuse.
Our class has been going GREAT! We consistently have new folks join us, and we have seen God strengthen so many in our group. When He changes people’s lives, they stay changed. The latest topic we have tackled as a group is Leadership. Leadership impacts every single area of our lives. I’m convinced every person has the ability to lead others. Most of us have people following us, even if we don’t know it so where we are headed is very important. As others follow us, it becomes more and more critical that our lives must follow The One True God.
If that last statement is true – and it is – then we can make a concise statement. To be the leaders we are created to be, we must follow The Creator!
Leadership is on display all throughout scripture, but we settled in on one primary character – Joshua. Joshua spent over 40 years as Moses’ number two guy. He did a lot of the dirty work. Can you imagine being the assistant to the guy in charge of over 2 million people? He was busy from dawn to dusk handling issues, solving problems, encouraging Moses, and following the Lord himself. I’m sure there were days he thought “what’s the point?”, but God noticed. As Joshua is given the reigns to the children of Israel, God has some things to tell him. Joshua 1 lets us see Joshua at the very beginning of his time to lead.
As we begin a series of posts about leadership, let me ask you a few questions.
- Who do you follow? Why do you follow them?
- Who is following you?
- Do you think you’re a good leader? Why or why not?
We’ll be back – really, we will!
